Girls Basketball used the day off Friday to recoup their legs and hit the floor running on Saturday as they faced the Maples of Seaholm. It was a back and forth affair as the two teams were tied after the first quarter. The Highlanders went on a run in the 2nd quarter to stretch the lead to 10 at half. A big third quarter saw the team outscore the Maples by 15 to widen the lead. The 4th quarter was a chance for Coach Shay to go deep into her bench who kept the peddle down to finish the game and complete the victory 59-28. Elizabeth Blaine led the scoring with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Maddie Dolenga added 13 and went 4 for 5 from the line. Abbey Drahnak added 9 points and 2 steals. Lauren Petersmark went 6 for 8 from the line on her way to 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Madison Kesman was strong on the defensive end as well with 4 steals along with 5 points. Emma Klott had a nice game too as she contributed 6 points. The win moves the team to 3-1. The Highlanders have a big week as they travel to Stoney Creek on Thursday and Bloomfield Hills on Thursday. Both dates are set to have start times of 5:30 for the JV and 7 PM for the Varsity.
